Step 1
To start editing, you just need to open the registry. There are several ways to do this. Click the start button of the operating system (located in the lower left corner of the desktop). Then select "All programs", and from the list of programs - "Standard". Find "Command Prompt" there. With Command Prompt running, type Regedit and press Enter. In a second, the Vista operating system registry will be open.

Another way to open the registry. Press the Win + R key combination. The Win key is in the bottom row of buttons on your keyboard if the keyboard is standard. It features the Microsoft logo. In the line that appears, also enter the Regedit command, then click OK at the bottom of the window. The registry window will be launched.

If, when you try to enter the operating system registry, the registry window does not start, and you receive a notification that editing is prohibited, most likely you are not logged in with an administrator account. In this case, you either need to log in with the computer administrator account, or add your account to computer administrators.
Step 4
If you log into the system using an administrator account, and the registry still does not open, then this indicates that there is probably a virus or malware on your computer. Scan the system for them. If the antivirus program detects viruses, remove or quarantine them. Then restart your computer. Try to open the registry again.
