If the modem begins to malfunction, it must be removed. Modem malfunctions are observed after frequent removal of the device in an unsafe way. Sometimes this happens due to a virus infection. In order to remove the modem, you need to perform several steps.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the modem by clicking on "safely remove hardware". The button is located on the right side of the desktop, at the bottom of the screen. It looks like a green arrow. After the computer writes that the device can be removed, remove the modem from the USB connector.
Step 2
Open the "My Computer" folder and select "Add or Remove Programs".
Step 3
After the computer forms the list, find in it the icon that corresponds to the modem. Typically, the modem icon can be viewed on the computer desktop.
Step 4
Click on "Delete". When a warning window appears that says “Are you sure you want to uninstall this program?”, Click “Yes”.
Step 5
The computer will automatically remove the modem and all of its components.
Step 6
After uninstalling, the operating system must be rebooted.
