The operation to uninstall the OfficeScan antivirus software can be difficult not only for a beginner, but also for an experienced user. Nevertheless, the problems arising during uninstallation are solved by the standard tools of the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that you are logged on to the system using an account with administrator access to computer resources and open the context menu of the OfficeScan antivirus program by right-clicking the client application icon on the taskbar to uninstall the selected program.
Step 2
Use the Unload OfficeScan command and enter the password when prompted.
Step 3
Go to the operating system management console and stop the following services:
- OfficeScan NT Listener;
- OfficeScan NT Firewall;
- OfficeScan NT RealTime Scan;
- OfficeScan NT proxy service;
- Trend Micro Unauthorized Change Prevention Services.
Step 4
Press the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Programs" item.
Step 5
Bring up the shortcut menu of the Trend Micro OfficeScan client application and select Uninstall.
Step 6
Return to the main Start menu and go to Run to launch the Registry Editor tool.
Step 7
Enter regedit in the Open field and click OK to confirm the run command.
Step 8
Delete the following registry keys:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / TrendMicro;
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Uninstall / OfficeScanNT
and the value of the OfficeScanNT Monitor parameter in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Run key.
Step 9
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Services registry key and delete all key values:
- ntrtscan;
- tmcfw;
- tmcomm;
- TmFilter;
- Tmlisten;
- tmpfw;
- TmPreFilter;
- TmProxy;
- tmtdi;
- VSApiNt;
- tmlwf (For Windows Vista / 2008 computers);
- tmwfp (For Windows Vista / 2008 computers);
- tmactmon;
- TMBMServer;
- tmevtmgr.
Step 10
Repeat this procedure on branches:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet001 / Services;
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet002 / Services;
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet003 / Services
and close the Registry Editor utility.
Step 11
Return to the main Start menu and go to Control Panel.
Step 12
Double-click the System link and go to the Hardware tab.
Step 13
Select the "Device Manager" item and select the "Show hidden devices" command in the "View" menu of the upper toolbar of the program window.
Step 14
Expand the Non-Plug and Play Drivers node and remove the following devices:
- tmcomm;
- mactmon;
- tmevtmgr;
- Trend Micro filter;
- Trend Micro prefilter;
- Trend Micro TDI drivers;
- Trend Micro VSAPI NT;
- Trend Micro Unauthorized Change Prevention Services;
- Trend Micro Runway Callout Drivers (for Windows Vista / 2008 computers).
Step 15
Remove Common Firewall Driver and open the context menu of the Network Neighborhood section by right-clicking.
Step 16
Specify the "Properties" item and call the service menu of the "Local Area Connection" item by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 17
Specify the "Properties" item and go to the "Network" tab of the dialog box that opens.
Step 18
Select "Trend Micro NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver" and click the "Uninstall" button.
Step 19
Delete the application installation folder located in C: / Program Files / Trend Micro to complete the uninstallation of the program.
