For the high-quality operation of communication lines, as well as electrical or electronic equipment, it is necessary that the wires are correctly and reliably crimped. Lugs and crimping tools come in different shapes, but the principle for crimping cables and individual wires is the same.
Necessary
UTP-5E cable, shielded or unshielded, crimper, two RJ-45 lugs, tester for checking the quality of cable crimping
Instructions
Step 1
Take a UTP-5E cable and measure it to the required length, then cut it. The cable can be shielded or unshielded. If in the future the wire is supposed to be used outdoors, it is better to choose a shielded one - the signal will be more protected. If the cable will be used indoors, the unshielded version of the UTP-5E cable can also be used. It is important to remember that the length of one segment can be no more than 100 m. After cutting to the required length, remove the insulation and unwind the wires on both sides with a crimper. For this, it has a round niche with a blade. It is important to remember that the distance from the end should be 13 mm. To remove the outer sheath, twist the cable 360 degrees without opening the crimper and remove the cut part.
Step 2
Arrange the wires by color in a specific order. One of the most versatile wire arrangements: white with orange, orange, white with green, blue, white with blue, green, white with brown, brown. After placing the wires, trim the ends again, if necessary, and seat them in the RJ-45 lug socket. For proper seating, the connector has paths that allow a separate wire to be routed to its pin number.
Step 3
Insert the tip into the appropriate slot in the crimper. Squeeze it to crimp the ends of the wire. Do the same for the other end of the wire. The cable is ready. Before using it, it is worth checking with a tester.
