When creating a local network yourself, it is very important to properly crimp the LAN connectors of the patch cords. This will allow you to ensure that the devices are connected correctly and that the network is generally stable.
Necessary
- - crimper;
- - UTP cable;
- - RJ45 connectors.
Instructions
Step 1
To crimp a patch cord, it is best to use a special device - a crimper. Prepare two LAN connectors for each network cable. In this case, it is recommended to use RJ 45 lugs.
Step 2
Measure the required length of the twisted pair and cut the cable. Remove the plastic protective tape. If you will be using a crimper, insert it into a special groove in the power cable and turn the device, first bringing the handles of the tool together. Remove the insulation from the inner cores of the cable. If you do not have a crimp, use the thread inside the cable to remove the braid.
Step 3
Untwist the twisted inner wires. Expose 1.5-2 cm of each wire. Follow this procedure very carefully so as not to damage the cores of the cables. Now place the wires in the slots using the desired pattern. The layout of the conductors in a straight crimped cable should look like this: 1. White-orange. 2. Orange 3. Green-white 4. Blue 5. White-blue. 6. Green. 7. White-brown. 8. Brown.
Step 4
Check the correct placement of the wires. Close the connector without completely snapping it shut. Insert the tip into the desired hole in the crimper and connect the tool handles. Install the connector on the other end of the patch cord in the same way.
Step 5
This method is recommended when connecting your computer to a network hub or router. To create a computer-to-computer network, use the back crimp method. Install the first connector as described in the previous steps.
Step 6
Prepare a second tip. Arrange the cables in the following order: 3, 6, 1, 4, 5, 2, 7, 8. Follow the numbering described in step three.
Step 7
In the absence of a crimper, a flat head screwdriver can be used. Gently press the veins of the desired colors into the grooves. After completing this procedure, press in the plastic retainer located near the base of the connector.
