The VOB format is used to play video on DVDs. However, many media players and video editors do not play this format, which creates problems when watching or editing videos. At the same time, video in VOB format takes up a lot of disk space. Compressing DVD files into a convenient and familiar AVI format allows you to watch your favorite movies without any problems.
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install Intertech DVD Ripper Pro app. After installation, launch the downloaded ripper by going to the "Start", "Programs" menu and open the folder with the name of the application, and then the program itself.
Step 2
Insert the DVD you want to compress to AVI into your computer's drive. Wait until the program recognizes the DVD. As soon as the application reads the contents of the disk, the necessary information will appear in its window.
Step 3
Select the AVI option in the program. To do this, press the button to enter the menu "Output Format" or Output Type and specify AVI. In Intertech DVD Ripper Pro you can choose a few more different options, but AVI or DivX have the highest file compression ratio.
Step 4
Go to the "Settings" section in the program menu. Click Quality and use the marker on the scroll bar to specify the appropriate option. The lower the quality, the more the file will be compressed.
Step 5
Click on the folder icon in the application settings to select the destination to save the converted file. When the window opens, navigate to the folder you want to set as your destination and click the "OK" button.
Step 6
Press the "Convert" button. The program will start compressing the DVD file from the disc and save it as AVI with the compression options you selected. Run the created file and check how smoothly it was compressed.
Step 7
Compress the DVD file using an alternative method. To do this, open any online video converter, for example, Zamzar, Meadia-Convert or YouConvertIt if you want to compress the file directly from the network. Follow the instructions on the screen to load the VOB file from disk to the system, select AVI from the list of output file types and press the "Convert" or "OK" button to perform the VOB to AVI compression. After conversion, the program will write the necessary information on the created AVI file and provide a link to download it.
