The Windows operating system provides a huge variety of features, including recording programs, which are often useful not only for entertainment, but also for work.
The Windows operating system allows you to record sound in several ways. In any case, the process of work will require a working sound card on the computer. For playback, you need speakers and a standard player program, for example, Windows Media Player.
Microphone sound recording
Recording sound from a microphone with a standard program is the easiest option, if we are not talking about the need to obtain high-quality quality, without extraneous noise. An active microphone is required. It turns on through "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Sound", in the window that opens - the "Recording" tab.
In modern versions of Windows, the required firmware is called “sound recorder”. It's easy to find it through the Start menu - All Programs - Accessories - Sound Recorder. The program is intuitive, the buttons are visualized like in a regular player: to record, just click "start recording", to finish - "stop recording", after which the "save as" dialog box automatically opens, where you can enter a name for the resulting file and select a location its location. If you want to continue recording, instead of "save" you need to click "cancel", and then - "continue recording": thus, the entire sound will be recorded as one file.
Sound recording without microphone
You can also record sound without a microphone, for example, from a movie on your computer. To do this, you have to work with a stereo mixer. You can find it in the same place where the microphone is turned on ("Start" - "Control Panel" - "Sound", in the window that opens - the "Recording" tab). If there is no “stereo mixer” item in the “record” window, it is most likely simply hidden. You will be able to see it by right-clicking anywhere in the free space of the window and selecting "show disabled devices". When the stereo mixer appears in sight, you need to enable it as the default device and disable the microphone. Further, the sound recording goes in the standard way, discussed above.
In some cases, problems arise with sound recording using a stereo mixer. Then it makes sense to try any of the programs (paid or free), focused on recording sound from a computer. There are a lot of them and you should choose in accordance with the type of operating system and your preferences. For example, these programs include: Total Recorder, Sound Forge, AudioSP, Audacity and many others.
