Documents containing tables can be created in different programs and, accordingly, saved in files of different formats. To save such documents in text files, it is convenient to use the widespread spreadsheet editor Microsoft Excel. The tables created in it can be stored both in files of its own formats (xls, xlsx, etc.), and transferred to the Microsoft Word text editor and saved in doc, docx, etc. files.

Instructions

Step 1

Open a spreadsheet editor and load into it a file containing the table whose color you want to change. If there is no table yet, then first enter all the data - it is more convenient to change the color scheme if you have a filled-in table.

Step 2

Select the entire table or the area in it whose color you want to change, and right-click the selected cells. In the drop-down context menu, select the "Format cells" item. The same menu appears when you click on the "Format" button in the "Cells" group of commands on the "Home" tab. In any case, the settings window will open on the "Border" tab.

Step 3

Select the most appropriate linetype (regular, dotted, dash-dotted, etc.) and its width in the "linetype" field. In the drop-down list under this field ("color") select the desired shade for the border lines separating the cells. Then either click one of the icons in the "All" group, or use the mouse to mark which borders (lower, upper, internal, external, etc.) should be drawn with lines with the parameters you have chosen. This procedure can be repeated by choosing different parameters - for example, one for the outer borders of the table, for the inner borders between cells - others.

Step 4

Go to the Fill tab and select a background color for the table. By clicking on the "Fill Methods" button, you can set one of the options for the background gradient fill by choosing the colors, their number and the direction of the gradient change.

Step 5

Click OK to have Excel apply the layout you designed to the table. After that, you can make changes to the created coloring - for example, select the first column of the table, and then on the "Home" tab in the "Font" group of commands, open the drop-down list on the "Fill color" icon and set your own background color for this column. The same can be done with the title bar.

Step 6

In addition to this method of table design, there are others. For example, after selecting table cells, in the Styles command group on the Home tab, click the Cell Styles button and select one of the predefined design options.
