If a notification about the prohibition of the registry appeared on your home computer, although you know for sure that this function has not been disabled, then first try to scan your computer for viruses.

For subsequent actions, your account must have administrator rights for the computer. To activate the ability to edit the system registry, follow these steps. Click Start. Select "All Programs". Select Accessories from the list of programs. Find and run the command line in standard programs.

At the command prompt, type gpedit.msc and press Enter. In a second, the Local and Group Policy Editor window will open. The window will be split in two. On its left side, find the "User Configuration" section, and in it - the "Administrative Templates" option. Click on the arrow next to the parameter.

Several more subsections will open, among which find the “System” subsection and select it with the left mouse button. After that, the system settings will appear in the right window of the program. You need to find a setting called "Deny access to registry editing tools."

Click on this parameter by double-clicking the left mouse button. After that, another window will appear. There are several items in the upper left corner of this window. Find "Disable" among these items. Check it out. Then click "Apply" and OK.

Close all windows. After completing all the steps, restart your computer. After a reboot, the registry editor should become available. If you are a computer administrator and after completing all the above steps, the system registry remains locked, then most likely this is due to viruses. Scan your system for viruses. Then try running the registry again.
