The Windows operating system registry is a database of all system settings. The settings for the hardware environment, programs, user accounts and the system itself are arranged in a hierarchical order, and some are available for editing.

Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button or the Windows logo key on your keyboard. Select Run. If you do not find the "Run" item in the menu, edit the menu settings by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting the "Properties" item. Go to the Start tab, find the Run command in the list below and check the box next to it.
Step 2
In the Run box, type regedit and press enter. The Windows Registry Editor starts. On the left side of the window there is a tree of registry values, divided by areas. The right side displays the contents of the folder, if it has any parameters. This system is responsible for many parameters in the computer and executes many commands using the console.
Step 3
You can find the required parameter in the registry using the search, which is available from the menu. The menu also contains the "Export" item, with which you can make a backup copy of the current registry, and "Import", which loads the version of the registry from a file.
Step 4
You can also start the Windows registry through the "Task Manager", in the menu of which there is an item "Run". Registry Editor also supports the ability to connect a third-party system registry over a local network. Make a copy of the registry before making changes. If the registry is damaged, the operating system will refuse to boot, and its start will have to be restored with third-party programs.
