Instructions

Step 1

Before removing the password entry window, think about whether it is worth doing. One of the main advantages of the Linux operating system is its high security. On Windows, you can bypass the password entry, for example by trying to boot into Safe Mode. In Linux, a password reliably protects your computer from prying eyes. When loading, the login is already entered in the corresponding field, and typing the password is a matter of a few seconds.

Step 2

The exact way to disable password entry depends on the distribution you are using. For example, in one of the most popular Linux distributions - Ubuntu 11.10 - click on the username in the upper right corner of the screen. In the menu that opens, select the "Users" line. A window will open, click the "Unblock" button in it. In the appeared authentication window, enter the administrator password and click the "Authenticate" button. A window with login parameters will appear. In it you will see two buttons: 1 and 0. Press button 1 and reboot the system.

Step 3

To enable auto login in Suse Linux, click the Start button and enter user management in the Search field. Find below and click on the User management line. From the drop-down menu, select Expert Options, then Login Settings. To select an auto login, place a checkbox in the corresponding field in the window that opens. From the drop-down list, select the user for whom automatic login will be set.

Step 4

In some distributions, enabling auto login will have to be done by editing the corresponding configuration file. If you have not found autologin enable functionality on your system, look for one of these files: /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf/etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf

Step 5

For automatic login to work, there must be an entry in the configuration file: [daemon] AutomaticLoginEnable = true AutomaticLogin = user Replace user with your login.
