You have two computers in your apartment, and you need to quickly exchange information between these computers, use a printer, scanner, etc., and, of course, have a single access to the Internet. A local network is capable of solving all these problems.

Necessary

  • - computers;
  • - router.

Instructions

Step 1

Let's take the simplest network architecture for consideration:

You can use a router that combines technologies such as configuring gateways and connecting computers together. That is, this device not only connects computers, but also partially provides Internet access. In this case, the router must provide independent access to the Internet for all computers. As practice shows, usually a router is a built-in means of ensuring network security.

Step 2

The construction of the cable infrastructure will also help you in solving this problem. Cables (patch cords) can be purchased at computer stores or made by yourself if you have all the required consumables (and with the help of non-tricky equipment and an ordinary flat screwdriver).

Step 3

The next step is to configure all the software.

The first thing that needs to be done is to name each computer and assign a single working group to all of them. To do this, go to the "control panel", then "System". In the "System Properties" select the item "Computer name". Press the "Change" button.

Step 4

At this stage, we need to register the name of the computer and the name of our workgroup. Computer names can be called differently, so put it at your discretion, but the main thing is to be different from each other. The name of the working group of our network must be the same on all computers. If this parameter is different on computers, the connection will not be established.

Step 5

We only need to configure one component, namely "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)". Next, you need to manually register the IP address, "default gateway" and "subnet mask". Write the IP address on one computer "192.168.0.1", and on the second "192.168.0.2". The subnet mask will be set automatically. Then save all the parameters and restart the computer.
