Modern computers make it possible to connect various audio devices to them for comfortable and full use of modern computing technology. These devices also include various types of microphones.

Step 1
To connect a microphone and speakers to your computer, carefully examine the back (most often) panel of the system unit. Here you need to find three holes of the sound card, which by default are configured as follows: red (microphone input), blue (line input) and green (speaker output). The sound card can be built into the motherboard or installed separately.
Step 2
After you connect the microphone (Fig. 1), you need to configure its parameters in the operating system, because it is disabled by default. To do this, you must turn on the volume control. Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Volume. In the "Parameters" menu, select the "Properties" item (Fig. 2).
Step 3
In the window that opens, select the recording mixer HD Audio rear input or Realtek HD Audio Input, or another, depending on the equipment manufacturer. After that, the “Record” item should automatically become active in the “Volume setting” field. This is an indication that an external audio device with an input signal will be used. In the field "Display volume controls" you need to put a tick opposite the inscription "Microphone" (Fig. 3).
Step 4
Then you should click "OK" to save the settings, and then, by moving the sliders, set the sound of the microphone (Fig. 4). Please note that in the “Level” settings there is a check mark on the “Off” parameter. all”should not be! Otherwise, all sound of the connected devices will be turned off by software. The overall sound volume in the operating system is also adjusted here.
Step 5
Different firms and models of sound cards use their own drivers and utilities supplied by the manufacturer, but the principle of setting is basically similar between them. Examples of different microphone settings can be seen in Fig. five.
