If you are not satisfied with the video card installed in your computer, try adjusting the settings for its operation. After improving the performance of the video adapter, you may no longer need to purchase a new device.

Step 1
If we are talking about a GeForce 8600 video card, first install the latest drivers available for this model. Connect to the Internet and open the website www.nvidia.ru. Move the cursor over the "Drivers" tab and select "Download Drivers" from the drop-down menu.
Step 2
Now fill in the search menu. In the Product Type field, select GeForce, and in the Product Series field, select GeForce 8 Series. In the next field, specify the exact model of your video card. It could be 8600 GS, GT, or GTS. Now select the operating system that is installed on your computer and select the language.
Step 3
Click the Search button. Select the appropriate driver from the list provided and click the Download Now button. Wait for the software download process to complete. Install new drivers and restart your computer.
Step 4
Now right click on the desktop and open the "Nvidia Control Panel" menu. Open the Manage 3DSettings menu. Select the GlobalSettings tab to configure the default video adapter settings that will apply to all programs.
Step 5
Now set Anisatroping Filtering, optimization and sample optimization to off. For best performance on your graphics card, disable all features except Hardware Acceleration and ImageSettings. Save changes and restart your computer.
Step 6
Restart the video card control panel. Select the ChangeOverclockingConfiguration menu. Check the box next to Myowncustomclockfrequencies. Now increase the MemoryClockFrequency and 3DClockFrequency values a little. Click the Test button and wait until the video adapter test completes.
Step 7
Improve the performance of your graphics card by periodically testing it. Make sure your video adapter is performing at its best possible.
