An ordinary user periodically has the question of how to find out which video card is on the computer. It should be remembered that the video adapter is one of the main components of the equipment. Accordingly, it is necessary to find the sections of the computer responsible for the state of the devices and select the options for the video card.
How to find out which video card is on the computer through the "Device Manager"
The first and main way to see the name of the video card model is to go to the so-called "Device Manager". There are several options for how to do this. For example, you can right-click on the "My Computer" shortcut on the Windows desktop and select "Properties" from the menu that appears. If there is no such icon on your desktop, look for it in the Start menu. As a result of the actions performed, you will be taken to the "System" section. Here you need to click on the item "Device Manager". It is worth noting that you can also enter the "Device Manager" through the "Control Panel" (located in the "Start" menu).
Pay attention to the list of devices. Find among them the item "Video adapter" (it should be located closer to the top of the list) and click on it. The name of your video card on the computer will be displayed below. In some cases, several models of video cards are displayed here at once. For example, on powerful gaming computers, two video adapters are often installed at once for greater power, and in laptops, in addition to a discrete video card, there is a built-in motherboard and has a similar name.
Clicking on the name of the video card with the right mouse and selecting "Properties", you will find yourself in the service menu, where you can see the current version of the video adapter driver. Remember to update your driver periodically to maintain performance. Therefore, try clicking the Update Driver button to have the system check for updates on the Internet. You should also periodically look at the video card manufacturer's website to download driver updates from there yourself.
How to find out which video card is on the computer through "Display Properties"
A fairly quick way to find out the video card on the computer is as follows: right-click on any free space on the desktop and wait for the menu to appear. Select the item "Display Settings" (or "Properties", depending on the version of the operating system). In the opened section of the display properties look for the item "Advanced settings" or "Options", usually located just below the set screen resolution, and click on it.
Select "Graphics adapter properties" and wait a while until the hardware update finishes. The subsection "Adapter type" will indicate which video card is installed on the computer. Next to its name there will be a button "Properties", by clicking on which you can check the driver version and, if necessary, update it.
Just below the name of the video card there will be a subsection "Information about the adapter", which is also quite important. Here you can see how much memory the device has in total and how much is currently available. You can also select the screen resolution mode by pressing the corresponding key. It should be noted that these are far from all the ways to find out which video card is on the computer. In particular, you can try to find its name in the booklet from the equipment kit or download a special program that automatically detects each device in the system and then displays it on the screen (DriverScanner, AIDA64, SysInfo Detector, etc.).
