Step 1
To connect new memory modules, certain conditions must be observed. First select the boards themselves. To do this, determine their type by studying the instructions for the motherboard. To do this, use the paper version or visit the website of the manufacturer of this device. Find out the type of RAM cards your motherboard works with. If you cannot find the information you need, then install the Speccy program by downloading it from www.piriform.com.
Step 2
Run this utility and go to the "RAM" menu. Find out the type of boards used. These can be DIMMs or DDRs (1, 2, or 3). Be sure to look at the memory size of the installed boards and their clock speed. Check the number of free slots for installing memory modules. All this information you can also get when working with the Speccy program.
Step 3
Purchase new RAM modules. If you decide to completely replace the RAM boards, then buy a set of identical boards. This will improve their performance if the motherboard supports dual-channel RAM.
Step 4
Turn off your computer. Be sure to disconnect the power cable from the system unit. Remove old memory modules if necessary. Connect new memory cards. If you are using paired modules, then install them in special slots. They are usually painted in specific colors.
Step 5
Turn on the computer and check the installed modules. To do this, open the control panel and go to the "Administration" menu. Click on the "Windows Memory Check" shortcut. Confirm to restart the computer and wait for the RAM cards status check to complete. If a BSoD error appears during the first boot, disable all modules. Insert them one at a time, each time turning off the PC. Most likely, the error is not in the boards themselves, but in their initial joint definition.
