Necessary

  • - Wi-Fi router;
  • - network cable.

Instructions

Step 1

Get a Wi-Fi router that works with your laptops and smartphones. Connect the network equipment to the mains. Connect the internet connection cable to the WAN connector of the router and turn on the device.

Step 2

Now connect a network cable to its LAN (Ethernet) port. Connect the other end to the network adapter of a laptop or desktop computer. Turn on this computer. Launch an Internet browser and open the web interface of the Wi-Fi router by entering its IP in the address bar.

Step 3

Enter your username and password to access the router settings. Open the Internet (WAN) menu and configure the Internet connection. At this point, the network protection parameters should not be set. Be sure to enable Firewall and NAT functions.

Step 4

After completing the Internet connection settings, open the Wireless Setup Settings (Wi-Fi) menu. Enter the name (SSID) of the future access point. Now choose the type of security. We recommend using the highest quality types such as WPA2-Personal. The main thing is that your laptops support this type of encryption.

Step 5

Set a strong password consisting of a combination of numbers and letters. Activate the Hide SSID function. If this function is active, then it will be possible to connect to the access point only if you configure the connection yourself. Save the settings and reboot the Wi-Fi router.

Step 6

Now turn on your laptop and wait for the operating system to load. Open the Network and Sharing Center. Select the "Manage Wireless Networks" menu. Click the Add button.

Step 7

Select the Connect to SSID Manually option. Enter the network parameters in the new menu that you set when configuring the Wi-Fi router. Check the box next to "Save network settings". Click the Finish button. Connect to the created network.
