Many laptop owners are trying to abandon the wired Internet. A cable connected to a laptop significantly reduces the portability of the device, which is the main advantage of a laptop over a desktop computer.
Necessary
Network cable, Wi-Fi router
Instructions
Step 1
To create your own wireless access point, you will need a Wi-Fi router (router) and wired Internet. Please note that routers differ in a number of parameters, the main of which are: the size of the signal propagation area, the type of data transmission and the encryption option.
Step 2
Examine the specifications of your laptop and, based on the information obtained, purchase a Wi-Fi router. Turn on the device. Connect an internet cable to it using the WAN / Internet port.
Step 3
Connect the laptop to the LAN port of the router using a network cable. Read the user manual for this device. Find its standard IP address there. Enter this value into the address bar of your browser.
Step 4
You will see the Wi-Fi router settings menu. Select Internet Setup or Internet Setup. Select the type of data transfer protocol, specify the access point that your provider gave you, fill in the Login and Password fields. Save the changed settings.
Step 5
Open the Wireless Setup or Wireless Setup menu. It is filled in any form, i.e. any parameters that you specify will ensure the stable operation of your access point. Create and set a network name and password. Select the types of radio transmission and data encryption that your laptop will work with. You should have defined them in the second step.
Step 6
Reboot your Wi-Fi router. Wait for the automatic connection with the provider and the creation of the wireless access point. Unplug the cable from the laptop and connect to the wireless network. To do this, you will need to enter the password that you set in the previous step.
