Quite often, the image on the monitor screen is dim for various reasons. At the same time, it is impossible with the help of one setting to correct the picture in the video file, and in the photo, and on the usual desktop. But in all these situations, it is quite easy to increase the brightness of the image separately.

Instructions

Step 1

To brighten a static image, such as a photo, open it with a viewer. Standard Windows programs are not suitable for this: they have no functions even for such simple image editing. However, if you wish, you will find quite a few other programs of this kind on the Internet: ACDSee, FastStone Image, IrfanView - the most common and far from the only ones in their class. Depending on the selected program, the menu items and names will differ, but in general, the order of your actions to increase the brightness will correspond to the following scheme. Using the IrfanView program as an example: select the Color corrections item in the Image menu and in the window that appears, move the slider of the Brightness parameter as needed. Then click OK and, if desired, resave the image.

Step 2

To increase the brightness when producing a movie, check the available display settings on your player. Menu items and video settings are different for each player. In general, you need to find the video output settings, which can be located both in the "Options / Tools" menu, and in the "Video" sub-item. Using VLC-player as an example, to increase the brightness, go to the "Tools" menu and select the Extended Settings item … In the window that appears, go to the "Video Effects" tab, check the "Image Settings" box and use the brightness slider to set new display parameters …

Step 3

If you are not satisfied with the overall image on the computer screen, and not the quality of individual files, and the picture settings on the monitor do not help, then you can increase the brightness using the settings of the video card itself. To do this, go to the Display Settings through the Control Panel and click the "Advanced" button. Next (using the example of an Intel Graphics video card), go to the settings tab of the video card parameters from the manufacturer. Then select "Characteristics" - "Color Settings". You will see the already familiar slider for the brightness parameter from the previous steps. Move it and click on "OK".
