If for some reason you need to add new font files to a text editor, for example, due to the lack of standard ones or to diversify the document, this can be done in just a few minutes. When additional fonts are added to the operating system, they become available not only to text editors, but also to other applications that display text.

Instructions

Step 1

Changes in the composition of fonts can affect almost every program that uses text display. Both Cyrillic and Latin fonts can be added to the operating system. If you have an Internet connection, you can download entire collections of fonts, since now there are a large number of sites that collect them.

Step 2

You can download absolutely free font files from the site https://www.xfont.ru/. After loading the main page, you will see several columns with fonts: select the section "Russian fonts" or any other. Select the font you are interested in, click on its title to go to the download page and click the "Download" button located at the bottom of the page.

Step 3

As a rule, fonts are downloaded from sites of this nature as a single TTF file (without archiving). Therefore, these files must be collected in one folder, so it will be more convenient to add them.

Step 4

Click the Start menu, select Control Panel. In the window that opens, go to the "Fonts" item and double-click the left mouse button on the icon with the drop cap image.

Step 5

A folder with system fonts will appear in front of you. To install the fonts you have chosen, you must click the "File" top menu and select the "Install Font" item.

Step 6

In the window that opens, select the drive letter from the drop-down drive containing the new fonts folder. In the next window, specify the folder and wait until the contents of the directory are read. Then click the Select All and OK buttons. Next, the installation of fonts will begin, as a rule, this procedure takes only a few seconds.

Step 7

Open MS Word text editor, enter some words and select any font from the dropdown list. When you select a font, the text of one font is automatically replaced with another.
