  • - Outlook Express program.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the version of the program to copy mail from Outlook Express, different versions may have different paths and ways to save messages from the client. You can find out the version of the client for saving Outlook mail messages as follows: start the program, open the Help menu, select the About program item, a window will open, which will indicate the client version.

Step 2

Save mail messages from Outlook Express 5.0 by going to the folder with the installed program (Program Files / Outlook Express), find the Tools folder there, and in it go to the folder by the following path Options / Maintenance / Store Folder. The Store Folder stores email messages, if no such folder is found, follow the next step.

Step 3

Run the "Find" command from the main menu, select "Files and folders" and in the "Name" field enter the following: *.dbx. Files with this extension are e-mail messages. Click on any file with the right mouse button, select the "Go to folder" command, the opened folder contains all your mail, to save the e-mails, copy the folder to the desired location on the disk.

Step 4

Conduct mail saving to Outlook Express 6 and above. Open the program, right-click and select "Properties", there find the path to the folder where the email data is stored. For example, it might be called Inbox.dbx. Move these folders to the desired location on the disk and after reinstalling the system, copy them to the same folder with the newly installed client, and your letters will be available in the new OS.

Step 5

Run the command "File" - "Export messages to Outlook" in Outlook Express, select all the folders you need, then go to Outlook, select the "File" menu, the command "Import and Export". Then select "Export to file", then "Personal folders file", select the desired folder, check the "Include subfolders" box, specify the path for saving e-mail messages and the name of the archive. The resulting archive is your saved mail from Outlook Express.
