To organize information on a hard disk, it is divided into several partitions: logical disks, primary and basic partitions. In Windows Vista, a disc can contain a maximum of four primary partitions, or three primary and one additional. In this case, an additional partition can contain up to 127 logical disks.

Step 1
To create a primary partition on your hard disk, you can use a specialized program. Partition Manager Special Edition is one such program. Launch Partition Manager Special Edition and select Advanced Mode.
Step 2
In the menu on the left, select an unallocated area, in the context menu, click on the "Create section" item.
Step 3
It is necessary to set the parameters of the section being created. Here you need to indicate that the created partition is primary, select the file system and partition size, and also specify a name in the form of a letter.
Step 4
In the "Changes" menu, select the "Apply changes" item, in the window that opens, confirm the operation.
Step 5
Depending on the speed of your computer, as well as the specified size, the process may take some time. Upon completion, you will receive a message about the successful completion of the operation, the main section will be created.
