All modern computers are upgradeable. You can replace the processor, video card, or other components. But there is a component that does not need to be changed. It's about RAM. To double its volume, it is not necessary to throw away the old memory module of the same size, and buy a more capacitive one in its place. You just need to add one or more RAM modules.

Instructions

Step 1

Before adding memory modules, you need to look at how many memory ports are on your computer's motherboard. Disconnect the computer from the power supply and open the lid of the system unit. Find the line on the motherboard that says DDR. Next to this line are the interfaces for connecting memory modules. See how many empty ports without installed modules are still left.

Step 2

There are now two options. Consider the first option if you have empty RAM connection ports. Just add one more (or several) memory modules to the already installed memory module, thus simply summing up all the installed memory. If you already have 2GB of memory, you will need to buy another 2GB module. In this way, the memory will be doubled.

Step 3

Before buying, check what type of memory your motherboard supports. This can be seen either in the technical documentation or on the memory module itself (DDR SDRAM, DDR3 SDRAM.). Now, when buying, you need to choose the same type of memory (no matter how much).

Step 4

When the RAM is already in your hands, just insert it into an empty port. Just press gently against the contact and push down until the latch engages. You don't need to do anything else. Close the lid of the system unit and turn on the computer. Now the memory capacity has doubled.

Step 5

The second option is needed if all your ports are busy. Remove the memory modules from the ports. Find the module with the smallest memory size. It is him that you will change. Choose a more capacitive module instead. For example, instead of 512 MB, buy a 2 GB module. Now replace the module with the higher capacity instead of the module with the lower capacity. The amount of RAM will be larger. It should be noted that it makes no sense to install more than 4 GB for the 32-bit version of Windows.
