With the advent of digital cameras and photo printers, everyone can print a photo for documents without leaving home. But everything is not so simple: there are certain rules that must be followed. These rules change depending on the purpose of the photographs.

Step 1
First, a few rules for photographs for any documents. There should be one person in the photo, who should be looking at the camera, the facial expression is neutral. The image of a person should correspond to how he looks at the moment. It is allowed to shoot in hats that do not hide the oval of the face, if religious beliefs prohibit being shown in front of strangers without hats. For people who constantly wear glasses, it is imperative to shoot with glasses without tinted glasses. In this case, the lenses must be clean, and the frame must not cover the eyes. The presence of shadows in the photo for documents is not allowed.
Step 2
Photo for the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation. The photograph must be made in black and white. The required size is 35x45 mm. The size of the front of the head should be 11-13 mm (distance from the chin to the line of the eyes). At the same time, the clear field above the head should be 4-6 mm.
Step 3
Photo for a foreign passport. The size, as for a Russian passport, is 35x45 mm, but the photo must be in color. The photo should be taken on matte paper, in an oval with feathering. The size of the head from chin to crown should be 25-35 mm. Please note that OVIRs do not always accept photographs taken with digital rather than analog cameras. This is a violation of the law, as in the legislation of the Russian Federation there is not a single mention of the ban on the use of digital photographs on a foreign passport.
Step 4
Photo for a Schengen visa. The photograph must be in color, again, 35x45 mm in size. The height of the face, from the roots of the hair to the tip of the chin, should be 32-36mm. The background color depends on the country you are going to. For example, for France, a gray or light blue background is required.
