To configure the parameters of the Counter-Strike game, special files are used. They allow you to quickly apply the settings you want by entering just one command instead of changing dozens of default settings.
Instructions
Step 1
First, install the Counter-Strike game itself. If you want to use the non-steam version, then download it from any available file hosting service. Be sure to find the latest patch versions to be able to play on new servers. Run the game installer, specify the folder where the necessary files will be saved. Install the selected patch.
Step 2
Restart your computer and start the game. Minimize it and open any file manager. Open the folder where Counter-Strike was installed. Go to the cstrike folder and find the config.cfg file. Open it using Notepad or WordPad. Press Ctrl and A at the same time to select the entire contents of the file.
Step 3
Create a new txt file. Change its resolution to.cfg. Open it with Notepad and press the key combination Ctrl and C. Now write additional commands that need to be saved in this config. To play on external servers, it is recommended to change the values of the cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate, cl_cmdbackup and cl_rate parameters. To reduce the latency during the game, it is better to enter the command sv_unlag 0. To reduce the load on the video card, write max_smokepuff 0 and max_shells 0. Save the created config.
Step 4
Copy the resulting file to the cstrike folder. Expand the game window and open the console. Enter the exec qq.cfg command, where qq is the name of the file you created. To skip this process every time you start the game, create another text document. Change its format to cfg. Open it and enter the exec qq.cfg command.
Step 5
Rename this file to userconfig.cfg and copy it to the cstrike folder. If you need to add commands that you need to enter when starting the game, then enter them in the last file. It is better to save your configs in a separate folder, because during the game on some servers they can be changed without your participation.
