Instructions
Step 1
The order in which numbers are placed on a document page in Word depends on the version of the text editor. In the 2003 version, they are much easier to put down than in the 2007 and higher versions of Word.
Step 2
If you are working in Microsoft Word 2003, open the document and select the "Insert" section from the main menu. Click on the "Page numbers" item. Depending on the requirements for document design, set the numbering parameters you need in the window that appears. Select the position of the number on the page, alignment to a specific edge, size and type of font.
Step 3
In the same window, click on the "Format" section and format the page number as needed. For example, you can include a chapter number or use Roman numerals instead of Arabic numerals.
Step 4
When preparing abstracts, term papers and theses, it is often required to start numbering from the second sheet, but so that the number "2" appears on it. This can be done in the "Format" section, by specifying the page number and number in the "Start from" item.
Step 5
In Microsoft Word 2007, page numbers are displayed in the headers and footers at the top and bottom of the sheet. To put them down, double-click the left mouse button at the top of the page. Before you there is an area separated by a dotted line - a header. After that, click "Insert" in the main menu, and in the "Page numbers" section, select the location of the numbering and put it down. You can return to editing the text by double-clicking in the center of the page.
Step 6
To change the page numbers, double-click the header and footer area and make the necessary changes. Alternatively, go to Page Numbers again and select the Format Page Numbers section from the drop-down menu.
Step 7
To remove a numbering, select it, select the Page Numbers tab and click Remove Page Numbers.
Step 8
Correctly formatted numbering will greatly simplify the creation of content for the typed document.
