The easiest way to find out about the type of memory is to look in the BIOS. True, only basic information about the type of memory is indicated there. Turn on your computer. In the first seconds after switching on, press the Del key. On laptops, a different key may be used to enter the BIOS. The section where the memory information is located depends on the BIOS version and motherboard model. Very often it is located in the Advanced tab, where you need to select the Memory controller parameter.

A very convenient and useful utility with which you can easily find out the type of memory is called CPU-Z. You can easily find it on the Internet. Some versions of the program require installation, others are launched directly from the folder unpacked from the archive.

Run the program. From the CPU-Z menu, select the SPD tab. An arrow is located in the upper left corner of the window that opens. When you click on this arrow, the number of the OP connection slot appears. By choosing a slot, you can see all the information about the memory module that is installed in it.

Another program that will help you find out the type of memory is called AIDA64. Find it on the internet and download it. Install the program on your PC, then run. After it starts, wait for the system scan to complete.

In the left part of the program window, find the line "Motherboard". Left-click on the arrow next to the line. In the menu that appears, select the SPD line. The memory information appears in the right window. The window will be divided into four sections. In the first section, you will be able to select one of the connected OP modules. In the second section, basic information about memory will be written, in the third - information on its timing. Well, in the last section there will be a list of functions of memory modules. If a specific function is supported by the OP module, a check box will appear next to the function name.
