Most often, a clipboard is understood as a system data storage, into which a text, file, image or some other object can be placed from any application program. The clipboard is equally accessible from any program, therefore it is actively used for "manual" transfer of data from one application to another.

Instructions

Step 1

After placing the desired text on the clipboard, switch to the window of the application in which the edited document is open. Place the insertion point at the position of the text where you want to paste the copied fragment, and press the key combination Ctrl + V or Shift + Insert. Instead of hotkeys, you can use a command from the context menu - right-click the desired place in the document and select the "Paste" command from the pop-up menu. The main menu of any text editor also has such a command. For example, in a word processor in Microsoft Office Word, it has the largest button in the Clipboard group of commands on the Home tab.

Step 2

Pasting text from the clipboard can be combined with the operation of deleting elements of the edited document - this slightly speeds up the work if you need to replace some already existing fragment with the copied text. To do this, first select the word, sentence, paragraph or any other part of the edited document and paste the contents of the clipboard using one of the methods described in the previous step. In this way, you can replace not only text, but also, for example, pictures, embedded tables, WordArt objects, etc.

Step 3

Some applications are able to intercept texts copied to the clipboard and create entire chronicles from them. If necessary, the user can select and insert the desired fragment from this list. The main advantage of such a substitute for system memory is the number of storage units - only the last copied object is placed in the OS clipboard, and, for example, there can be 24 of them in the Microsoft Office clipboard. To access the panel of such storage in Microsoft Word, click the small rectangular icon to the right of the text of the name of the "Clipboard" command group on the "Home" tab.
