There are many ways to customize the look and feel of the Windows operating system. A simple but fun option is to change the icons of frequently used files or folders.
Instructions
Step 1
You can change the icon of any file, folder or shortcut in Windows without resorting to any programs - the system can do this by standard means. The Windows base has a large set of different icons that are not usually used in everyday work with a computer, and to install one of them instead of the file or folder icon you are tired of, follow a few simple steps.
Step 2
To change the file icon, go to Start Menu - Control Panel - Folder Options. In the dialog box that appears, go to the File Types tab and find your file in the list. Click on it and click the "Advanced" button and then "Change Icon". A window will open in which you can select the icons available in the system, or select your folder with icons by clicking the "Browse" button.
Step 3
To change the icon of a folder or shortcut, you just need to right-click on the icon of the shortcut or folder you need and select "Properties" from the context menu. In the window that opens, click the "Change Icon" button (for a shortcut this button will be on the "Shortcut" tab, and for a folder on the "Settings" tab), and select any of the available icons or specify the path to the folder with your icons.
