Often, after watching a video in a browser, there is a desire to save it to disk for subsequent offline viewing. In order not to re-download the file using download-programs, you can extract it from the cache folder, where browsers put all the information they upload.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to be able to extract the necessary files from the browser cache, you must have Opera or Firefox installed. Google Chrome sometimes caches files, sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it lacks the function of custom setting the amount of disk space reserved for the cache. Internet Explorer behaves the same way. In addition, in IE you cannot copy a file from the cache during the download, you must definitely wait until the download is complete. This is not always convenient.
Step 2
Set in the browser settings a sufficient amount of disk space for cached information - for example, at least 100 MB. In Opera, this setting is done at: settings> general settings> advanced> history. In Firefox, Settings> Preferences> Advanced> Network.
Step 3
Determine the address where the cache folder is located. In Opera, this is X: UsersUserNameAppDataLocalOperaOperacache. In Firefox, X: UsersUserNameAppDataLocalMozillaFirefoxProfileso60fmf02.defaultCache. X is the section where the browser is installed, "Username" is your name that you entered when installing the operating system. It can also be called "Administrator", Administrator or Admin.
Step 4
It will be easier to search the cache for the desired file if you clear it of old files before starting the download. In both browsers this is done in the same windows where the size of the disk space is set.
Step 5
To find the file you need after downloading, open the cache folder and configure the presentation of its contents in the "Table" view. After that, all folders and files will be presented in a table with columns: name, modification date, type, size. In Opera and Firefox, the cache contains not only files, but also folders. It is in the latter that the downloaded file will be saved, which should be searched for by the date of modification and size. The first parameter should correspond to the time when you uploaded the file, its size is usually much larger than the size of other files in the folder - usually more than 1 MB. Open each folder in cache in turn and look for the file you want.
Step 6
Once you find it, copy it to another folder - to avoid loss, since browsers sometimes automatically erase information in the cache - and double-click to launch it. Since these files do not have an extension, a dialog box will appear giving you the choice of the program with which to open the file. Select any player (Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic Home Cinema, etc.) and try to play the file with them. If its selection was made correctly, the video image will appear in the player window.
