Step 1
First of all, you need a virtual floppy drive. It is a program that emulates the operation of a real device for reading and writing discs. One of the most common programs that emulate the operation of a floppy drive is Daemon Tools. The program has a free version of Daemon Tools Lite, which is enough to open the mdf file. Download the latest version of Daemon Tools Lite from the developer's official website.
Step 2
Install Daemon Tools Lite on your computer. To do this, run the installation file downloaded from the developer's site.
Step 3
Click Next on the Welcome to the Installation Wizard. Confirm the license agreement by clicking the "I Agree" button. In the next window, select the "Free license" item and click the "Next" button. Check the box "Integrate with Explorer" in the window that appears to select the components to be installed and click the "Next" button. Click the "Install" button in the window that appears.
Step 4
Wait for the installation to complete and restart your computer. After rebooting, your computer will have another floppy drive - a virtual one.

To open a file with the mdf extension, double-click on it with the left mouse button. The disk image will then automatically install into the virtual drive. The process of installing an image into a virtual disk drive is called mounting.
Step 6
After mounting the image to the virtual drive, you can view its contents in the same way as the contents of a real CD or DVD. To do this, start "Computer" and open the virtual drive that appears in it.
Step 7
To mount another image, double-click on it. The installed image will be automatically extracted from the virtual drive, and another mdf file will be automatically installed instead.
