If different people work on the same computer, it makes sense to distinguish between their rights and responsibilities. For example, parents want to prevent their children from installing or running certain programs. These tasks can be solved using Windows tools.
Instructions
Step 1
You will need administrator rights to be able to block other people with access to your computer from running programs. In the "Control Panel" expand the "Accounts" group and assign administrator rights to the user you want to block the launch of certain programs. To do this, click on his account and follow the link "Change account type". Move the radio button to the "Administrator" position and click "Change Record Type".
Step 2
Log into the system under this account and start the registry editor. To do this, press the Win + R keys and enter the regedit command in the program launch line. Expand the HKCU / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVerson / Policies / Explorer folder, select the New command from the Edit menu and select DWORD Value from the drop-down list. Enter the name of the key RestrictRun, and in the Value field, enter 1.
Step 3
Now you need to create a list of programs allowed for this user. For example, you want the user to be able to work with MS Office applications and listen to music, but cannot access the Internet or launch toys. Again go to the "Edit" menu and select the "Section" item. Give the new section the same name as the key: RestrictRun.
Step 4
Right-click on the free space on the right side of the window and in the Create drop-down list select the String parameter item. Enter in quotation marks the serial number of the allowed program and its name. You should end up with something like this:
"1" = "kmplayer.exe"
"2" = "excel.exe"
"3" = "winword.exe"
"4" = "regedit.exe"
Step 5
Be sure to include regedit in the list to keep the ability to edit the registry. Then log in with your own account and change the user account to "Restricted Account".
