Today, films for home viewing most often come to us either via the Internet or on optical discs. The recording formats for distribution on physical media and over a network differ, but this is not a problem for the software used in modern computers. As a rule, the programs necessary for playing movies are installed with the installation of the operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
If the movie is recorded on optical media, the computer must have an appropriate playback device - a CD or DVD drive - to play it back. If the user takes care of this, the computer will take over the rest - just insert the disc into the output tray of the drive. The operating system will scan the contents of the media, find the autorun file and display a prompt to execute it, or open a window for viewing the contents of the disk in the file manager.
Step 2
Select the item that begins with the word "Play." The OS will launch the player installed by default and either the disc menu will appear on the screen, or it will start playing immediately - this depends on the script placed in the disc startup file. During the viewing process, you can adjust the parameters and control the playback process using the controls of the player.
Step 3
In the event that the movie is uploaded via the Internet, the launch method depends to a large extent on the file format. It can be one of the standard video formats (avi, mpg, wmv, etc.), or a disk image format (iso, nrg, img, etc.). In the first case, to view it, it is enough to double-click on the file and the operating system will launch the player program. The only problem that may arise in this case is the lack of a codec in the system that is necessary for playing this particular type of file. A codec is a special encoder / decoder configured for a certain standard for placing data in video files. You can find it on the Internet.
Step 4
To play a movie from a file with a disk image, you need a special application - an emulator of virtual drives. And it can also be obtained via the Internet. For example, you can find a free version of the emulator on the Daemon Tools website (https://www.daemon-tools.cc/rus/products/dtLite). After installing such a program into the system, double-clicking on the image file will cause the same action as the installation of an optical disc into the reader described in the first step.
