A sound card is a device that allows your computer to play sounds. Sound cards can be either integrated into the motherboard or as separate devices. An integrated sound card uses the resources of the motherboard and the central processor, a separate card uses its own. If you are not satisfied with the sound quality, you may need to consider upgrading (upgrading) your speaker system.

- Computer, sound card, installation disk with drivers (Internet access, if there is no disk),
- crosshead screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect the system unit from the power supply by unplugging the power cable. If any external devices are connected to the installed sound card, disconnect them. Remove the side panel of the system unit by unscrewing the fastening screws. If a sound card is already installed in the system unit as a separate device, remove it from the slot.
Step 2
Install a new sound card into the corresponding slot, and then secure it with the screw. The card should fit into the slot tightly, all the way. If the card has a connector for a CD drive, connect the appropriate cable. The connector can be signed, for example, CD_IN. If there is a corresponding connector, connect the speaker of the system unit. Replace the side panel of the system unit.
Step 3
Connect external devices (headphones, speakers, microphone, etc.) to the sound card connectors, paying attention to the color coding. If there is no such marking, connect in accordance with the inscriptions above the card connectors. Connect the system unit to the power supply.
Step 4
Once enabled, go to BIOS settings. As a rule, for this you need to press the Delete key or F1, F2 after the initial polling of the hardware by the system. Find the settings for integrated devices (they can be labeled "OnBoard" or "Integrated"), set the state of the integrated sound card (if there is one on the motherboard) to "Disable".
Step 5
If your computer is running Windows, after booting it will detect a new device and start looking for a driver for it. If it does not find it, at her request, connect the installation disk on which the driver is written. If there is no disc, go to the website of the manufacturer of this sound card and download it from there. Install the driver according to the manufacturer's instructions.
