Step 1
In the lower left corner of the screen, click on the "Start" button. In the "Settings" menu, click on the icon with the inscription "Control Panel". If you have a classic control panel look, look for the System icon. If your view is by category, select the Performance and Maintenance category and the System shortcut.

In the System Properties window, find the Advanced tab and click on it. Right-click on the "Options" button under the "Performance" label. In the Performance Options window, find the Visual Effects tab.

Click on the circle next to "Other". In the list, find the custom option "Drop shadows on desktop icons" and check the box. Do not forget to confirm the changes by clicking on "OK".

From the Performance and Maintenance category, you can go to the Visual Effects tab and directly bypassing the Network icon. To do this, you need to select the task "Setting up visual effects".

Also, to enhance the aesthetic effect, you can choose a font for the labels under the icons. To do this, you need to open the "Properties: Display" window through the desktop and the "Properties" item. Highlight the "Design" tab and click on "Advanced". In the menu "Element" you need to select "Icon" and then you can change the font in the inscriptions on the desktop, their size and color. Do not be bothered after all the changes to click first "OK", and then "Apply".
