Changing the properties of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system is a standard system optimization task and does not imply the involvement of additional third-party software.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system by clicking the "Start" button and open the context menu of the "My Computer" item by right-clicking to perform the operation of changing the system properties.
Step 2
Specify the "Properties" command or use an alternative way to open the panel. To do this, return to the main menu "Start" and go to the item "Control Panel".
Step 3
Expand the Performance and Maintenance link and select the System node.
Step 4
Click the System Restore tab of the Properties dialog box and apply the check box next to Disable System Restore on All Disks.
Step 5
Confirm the execution of the command by clicking the "Apply" button and go to the "Automatic update" tab.

Apply the checkbox to the "Disable automatic update" field and confirm your choice by clicking the "Apply" button.
Step 7
Click the Remote Sessions tab and uncheck all boxes.

Confirm the execution of the command by clicking the "Apply" button and go to the "Advanced" tab.

Click the Options button in the Performance group and go to the Visual Effects tab of the new dialog box.

Select Custom Effects, and then apply the check boxes for Use Styles, Smooth Jagged Screen Fonts, and Use Typical Folder Tasks.

Uncheck all other checkboxes in all fields and confirm your choice by clicking the "Apply" button.

Return to the Performance Options panel and click the Advanced tab.

Apply the checkboxes in the "Memory Usage" and "CPU Time Allocation" boxes and confirm your choice by clicking the "Apply" button.

Click the Change button in the Virtual Memory section and enter the desired values in the required fields.
