Correctly set video card settings help to work comfortably with graphics and enjoy high-quality textures and video in games. In order to access the map settings or just view its properties, you need to know where and how to look. There are several ways to access the properties of a video card.
Instructions
Step 1
To access the properties of the video card from the desktop, move the cursor to the "My Computer" icon, right-click on it. In the drop-down menu, select the last line "Properties" and click on it with any mouse button. The System Properties window will open.
Step 2
To call the properties window in another way, from the "Start" menu, call "Control Panel". When the panel is displayed by category, select the Performance and Maintenance section, then System. If you have the classic display of the control panel enabled, immediately select the "System" icon by clicking on it with the left mouse button.
Step 3
In the "System Properties" window go to the "Hardware" tab and in the first upper section click on the "Device Manager" button. In the list of connected equipment, find the item "Video adapters" and expand it by clicking on the "+" sign from the inscription or by double-clicking on the inscription itself with the left mouse button. Double click on the subdirectory with the name of your video card with the left mouse button to open the video card properties window. The same can be done by right-clicking on a subdirectory and selecting Properties from the drop-down menu.
Step 4
You can get complete information about the video card using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. In order to open the diagnostic tool window, select the "Run" command from the "Start" menu. In the blank field, enter "dxdiag" without quotes or spaces, click "OK" or press "Enter". Wait for the system to finish collecting data, go to the "Display" tab. If multiple monitors are installed, the tabs will be named Display 1 and Display 2, respectively.

You can also view the properties of a video card directly through its control panel. Using an NVIDIA card as an example, it will look like this. Using the Start menu and Control Panel, or by searching for the desired file in the folder located at C: / Program Files / NVIDIA Corporation / Control Panel Client, open the video card control panel. In the top menu bar, select "Help", from the drop-down list, select "System Information" by clicking on it with the left mouse button. The "Display" tab contains general information, the "Components" tab contains information about the versions of installed components.
