Installing an operating system on a mobile computer often requires preliminary preparation of additional files or devices. This is especially true when working with devices that do not have built-in DVD drives.

Necessary

  • - USB storage;
  • - Windows installation disc;
  • - access to the Internet.

Instructions

Step 1

To install the Windows XP operating system on a laptop, you need to prepare SATA drivers for the hard drive. Visit the official website of the company that developed this laptop model. Download from there a set of files that includes drivers for the hard drive.

Step 2

Download the Windows XP installation disc image and Nero Burning Rom. Open Nero and select DVD-Rom (Boot).

Step 3

Go to the ISO tab, click the Browse button and specify the location to store the installation disc image. Click the New button, make sure the image content is included with this project, and click the Burn button.

Step 4

Now unpack the driver files from the archive downloaded from the site. Copy them to a small USB stick. It is better to use the root directory of a flash drive to store drivers.

Step 5

Restart your mobile computer and press the F2 (Escape) button. Open the BIOS menu and select the Boot Options menu. In the Boot Device Priority submenu, activate the boot priority from the built-in DVD drive. Press the F10 button and confirm the saving of the parameters.

Step 6

After restarting the laptop, wait for the text Press any key to boot from CD to appear on the display. Press any key and wait for the Windows XP installation program to start.

Step 7

Press F2 when prompted to install additional drivers. Select the folder on the USB drive where you copied the drivers for the hard drive. Click the "Install" button and wait for this procedure to complete.

Step 8

After returning to the system setup menu, continue this operation normally. Select the hard drive partition, format it and press the Enter key to start the system installation process. After restarting your laptop, use the option to start from the hard drive instead of the DVD drive.
