You may need to enter the BIOS, or, more precisely, the BIOS Setup Utility, to configure the parameters of the hardware operation. In the past, when it was required to load the BIOS on a desktop computer, everything was solved simply: the Delete button, held down at the moment the computer started booting, opened the coveted access. But today laptop manufacturers release models, many of which have their own characteristics. Entering the BIOS on some of them becomes a non-trivial task.

Instructions

Step 1

Typically, when the laptop boots up, the manufacturer's logo appears. It can be followed by anything, but it is at this moment, as soon as the picture appears on the screen, you need to start pressing the keys to exit the Setup Utility. The time during which they can act is only a few seconds. Therefore, the first thing to do is prepare yourself not to miss this moment. You can just hold down the desired key, or you can constantly press and release it.

Step 2

As a rule, the biggest problem for entering BIOS on a laptop is recognizing the correct key combinations. Sometimes, during boot, a prompt appears on the screen: Press to Enter setup. But not always. When you see a prompt like this, use it. If you can't enter BIOS right away, try doing it again after rebooting. Perhaps the inscription appeared too late, and the time when it was possible to use the advice has already passed.

Step 3

If there was no prompt when booting up, to find out exactly the right key, take a look at the reference manual that was supplied with the laptop at the time of purchase. In the absence of guidance, you can try to find a way to log in by checking all possible. For laptops, the BIOS exit is most often done using the Del or F2 keys. Also Esc, Ins, F1, F3, F10 buttons can be programmed. In the vast majority of cases, one of these keys helps to exit the BIOS. For some laptops, keyboard shortcuts may help. You can try the following options: alt="Image" + Enter; alt="Image" + Ctrl; Ctrl + Esc.

Step 4

If the laptop is using fast boot mode, it may not be possible to get into the BIOS. To disable it, hold down F12, this will allow you to cancel fast boot and enter the BIOS setup utility. This often happens on Toshiba notebooks.
