Linux systems are known for being open source. Each user who is not satisfied with something in a certain distribution kit can independently create his own system package and customize it based on his own requirements. You can use ready-made solutions, or you can independently assemble the most functional system.
Necessary
- - APTonCD or Ubuntu Customization Kit;
- - Gentoo;
Instructions
Step 1
Complete and independent assembly of a Linux distribution takes a fairly long period of time and is a rather complicated process, but only in this case it is possible to create the most suitable system for the requirements. Take all the necessary kernel sources and packages that you need to connect, and compile it all one by one. During compilation, you will have to edit some programs and libraries for yourself. Excellent knowledge of the system architecture and basic knowledge of programming languages is required, otherwise such an assembly will fail.
Step 2
To build your own, most functional and customized system package for your personal needs, the Gentoo distribution kit is suitable. It comes without an installer and as source code. First, connect the Portage tree, and then make the appropriate settings, which are described on the official website of the system in the Handbook section, like all other settings. This method is also not suitable for beginners.
Step 3
To create a distribution, you can use the appropriate programs such as APTonCD or Ubuntu Customization Kit. Both utilities process bootable discs or ISO images of an existing system and are able to add or remove a specific package. All actions can be performed by a beginner who is far from knowing the system architecture.
Step 4
There are online services for assembling the system. Go to the site of such a constructor and select the options and packages you need, after which you will receive an ISO boot disk, the weight of which is no more than 30 megabytes. All packages are downloaded from the Internet during installation. For systems based on OpenSUSE, there is a separate SUSE Studio portal, which is quite fast, functional and convenient.
