The need to remove layers in AutoCAD arises when processing scanned drawings. The same problem can often be encountered when working with images created in other graphic editors.
Instructions
Step 1
Learn how to work with layers. You cannot delete null and current. Layers can be locked, disabled, or frozen. The current one is the one you are drawing on now. What is on it can be edited. To turn off a layer, find its name and a picture with a light bulb on the toolbar. Click on it. Now you will not see the primitives that were depicted on it. Moreover, they will not be reflected in printing either. If you click on the sun icon next to the layer name, a snowflake will appear in its place. In this case, the images are also invisible and cannot be edited. To be able to work with them again, click on the "snowflake". To lock, click on the open lock. The primitives will be visible, but you will not be able to edit them.
Step 2
Learn to manage layers. Find the Layer Properties dialog box. It can be displayed through the toolbar by clicking on "Layer". It is also very useful to get used to filters - then you can quickly find the desired layer by its description or properties. This method is very useful when there are a large number of layers in different states.
Step 3
Find the layer you want. If necessary, unlock or unfreeze it to be able to edit it. You need to remove everything unnecessary from this layer, and for this you need to see the primitives and be able to edit them. Make the layer current and remove what you don't need. If it has elements that will be needed in the final version of the drawing, transfer them to the same layer on which you worked before, or to a new one. After that, make the deleted layer current again and erase everything from it. After that, move the layer to any position other than zero, find the "Delete" button opposite the layer name on the toolbar and click on it.
Step 4
You can do it differently. Do not delete a separate layer, but translate everything you need into a single one, removing everything else. Identify the part of the image that is bothering you. Click on it with the mouse. A window will appear in front of you, from which you will find out everything you need, including information about which layer it is in and what its state is. Find it in the list and make it current. Go to the menu and select everything except the current layer. Freeze them or disable them. Everything that was in the other layers, you will see in the current one. The rest can be completely cleaned up and deleted quite safely, provided there are no associated links to them. In the current layer, edit the image.
