The screen resolution of a monitor in Windows operating systems is the ratio of the number of pixels per unit of display area. Resolution primarily determines the legibility of the image and text displayed on the screen. The higher the resolution, the clearer the image. In addition, when the screen resolution is high, the objects displayed on the screen are smaller and, therefore, can fit more.
Instructions
Step 1
Free your desktop from running programs, windows and files. To do this, close them or collapse them. You can minimize all windows at the same time by clicking the "Minimize all windows" button located on the right side of the Windows taskbar.

Right-click once on a place on the desktop that is free of gadgets, shortcuts, and gadgets.

In the list that appears, select the line "Screen resolution". The "Screen Resolution" window will open, containing basic screen settings such as the choice of monitor, its resolution and orientation, as well as additional parameters.
Step 4
Alternatively, open the Display Settings window by opening the Start menu and launching Control Panel. In the window that opens, select the "Screen" line by clicking it with the left mouse button once, and click the "Screen resolution settings" line in the left part of the window.

Also, to open the screen settings area, launch the "Start" menu and in the search line "Find programs and files" type the text "screen". In the list that appears, click on the line "Screen resolution settings" located in the "Control Panel" block.
Step 6
In the settings window, select the screen resolution from the proposed list and click "Ok". In all versions of Windows operating systems, the general list of resolutions displays the recommended resolution for this monitor and video card. For example, for a laptop screen with a diagonal of 15.6 inches, the recommended resolution may be 1366x768.
