DOSBox is an emulator for modern Windows systems that allows you to run old games released for MS-DOS. To run them, you must first install and configure the emulator using the appropriate options.
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the DOSBox program from its official website. After the download is complete, install it by double-clicking on the downloaded installer file. Then install the app following the instructions on the screen.
Step 2
For more comfortable work with the application, you can also install a crack. To do this, go to the Downloads section of the DOSBox site, and then find and download the archive to enable Russian language support. After that, unpack it into the C: / Documents and Settings / Admin / Local Settings / Application Data / DOSBox directory on your system. If you are using Windows 7, the files will need to be unpacked to the C: / Users / User / AppData / Local / DOSBox directory. To do this, use the appropriate WinRAR menu items.
Step 3
Launch the program using a shortcut on the desktop or through the "Start" menu of the system. After that, close the application and launch it again. This will allow the program to automatically adapt to your computer and determine some parameters.
Step 4
Create a folder where you will place your DOSBox game files. It is advisable to specify a directory, the address of which will be convenient to enter in the command line. For example, it might be a directory named dos at the root of your local drive C. To create a folder, go to Start - Computer - Local Drive C:.
Step 5
In the program window, enter the command mount C C: / dos and go to the folder with the game by entering the combination cd Folder_name_with_game. For example, if the game is in the game folder, the command will look like this:
cd game
Step 6
Enter the go.bat or start.bat command in the program window and wait for it to complete. The command can also match the name of the executable file to run the game.
Step 7
The launch file depends on which game you want to play. Examine the archive for the exact name of the executable file. If it does not start, you need to install it. To do this, enter the setup.exe command and then try starting the game again.
