Step 1
Often, while working with text editors, an accidental freeze occurs, and then the loss of the document content. There are several ways to recover a closed file, but it is better to insure yourself a little earlier by selecting the autosave option in the program settings.

After activating the autosave option, start MS Word. Open the damaged file: click the File menu and select Open. In the window that opens, find and select the document you are looking for. Before clicking on the "Open" button, pay attention to the multifunctionality of this button.

Next to this button is a small area with a triangle (drop-down menu sign). Click on it and a drop-down menu will appear in front of you.

Select the most recent menu line - "Open and Restore". The document containing the Cyrillic alphabet in the text will be converted, a corresponding dialog box will appear on the screen. Select the encoding in which the document was created and click the "OK" button. It is worth noting that when choosing the encoding specified by MS Word, you can lose all data and they will become unreadable.
Step 5
When the message "Show fixes" appears on the screen, review the list of fixes. As a rule, there are few fixes, so feel free to click "OK", because it is best to edit the text in the restored copy.
Step 6
There is also another way to recover documents created in MS Word. Run the program, press the key combination Ctrl + O. In the window that opens, in the "Files of type" field, select "Recover text from any file".
Step 7
In the same window, you must select your document and click the "Open" button. By using this recovery method, the likelihood of opening damaged files increases significantly.
