You can burn disc images not only complete. Any disk image can be split into several parts. This can be useful if the image itself has a capacity of five gigabytes or more and you need to burn it to a DVD. It obviously won't fit on a standard DVD, but it is quite possible to split the image into several parts and burn it onto a couple of discs. In addition, if you don't have DVDs at hand, you only have a couple of CDs, you can split the DVD image into several parts and burn them to CD.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to split a disk image into several parts, you need a WinRAR archiver. If it is not already installed on your computer, download it from the Internet and install it. Next, go to the folder where the disk images are stored and select the one that you want to split into several parts by right-clicking on it. In the context menu that appears, select the "Add to archive" command.

Step 2

Now in the program window find the inscription "Profiles". Under this caption, find the line "Archive format", where select Rar as the archive format. Below is the "Compression Method" parameter. Click on the arrow next to this parameter. A list of file compression options will open, from which select "No compression", since the main task is to split the image into parts, and not archive it. If you select "Normal" or "Good" in the "Compression method" line, the process of splitting the image will be very long.

Step 3

Even lower, under the Compression method parameter, there is a line “Divide into volumes by size”. There is also an arrow opposite this line. Click on it. File section options appear. You can split the file into 700 megabyte chunks or choose another option. You don't have to choose one of the options provided. Click on this line with the mouse and enter the volume of the image fragments. Note - the capacity of the fragments is entered in bytes, so do not miscalculate. After entering the required parameters, click OK.

Step 4

After completing the process, you will have several separate archives. They are all fragments of the same image. Now these archives can be burned to multiple discs. To get a whole image from them again, click on any of the archives with the right mouse button and in the menu that appears, select the "Extract" command. Select the folder to extract the archive to. Once extracted, you will have the whole image again. Please note that all zipped fragments must be in the same folder before extraction.
