Instructions

Step 1

Install the Alcohol 120% program on your computer (you can buy it in computer stores or on the Internet at the official website of the developer company). You can perform a standard installation or copy an already working portable version to your hard drive. Prepare the CD or DVD you want to copy the information to and place it in the DVD drive. Launch the program and go to the "Imaging" section located on the left side of the screen. By clicking on this button, you will proceed to the next step.

Step 2

Set the appropriate settings. Select a read speed that matches your drive specifications. You can also check the boxes next to the checkpoints for reading errors, fast skipping of erroneous blocks, improved sector scanning, reading subchannel data, measuring positioned data.

Step 3

Modify the Data Type section as needed. By default, the program offers "custom" data type options, but it is best to choose automatic settings. After making the necessary changes, click Next.

Step 4

Specify where the image of the copied disk will be located. Better to create a separate folder for this. To make it more convenient, write its name (in Russian or Latin letters) in the appropriate line or leave the option selected by the program.

Step 5

Perform a disk cleanup if you need to clean it of unnecessary files. Then press "Start" and wait until the copying process is complete. When the disc image is finished burning, the drive will automatically open and you can then eject the disc. Click Finish to close the program.

Step 6

Try burning the created image to disc immediately after copying. To do this, you can use the "Burn from image" function. After selecting this item, mark the files that you want to burn, insert a blank disc into the drive and click "Next" in a new window.

Step 7

After recording the image, you can immediately delete the image file. Just check the box next to the corresponding label in the window. You can also view the saved disk image and work with it on your computer after you mount it to a virtual disk by right-clicking on the selected file. The created image will take up the same amount of disk space as the original media, since the copying is done in a 1: 1 ratio.
