The "Trash" shortcut can disappear from your computer desktop for a variety of reasons. Restoring the "Trash" mark is feasible with standard Windows tools without using special third-party applications.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the item "Control Panel" (for Windows Vista).
Step 2
Expand the Appearance and Personalization link and select Personalization (for Windows Vista).
Step 3
Click on the "Change Desktop Icons" link and apply the checkbox to the "Trash" box (for Windows Vista).
Step 4
Click OK to confirm the command execution (for Windows Vista).
Step 5
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item to launch the "Registry Editor" tool (for Windows XP).
Step 6
Expand the branch
HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / HideDesktopIcons / NewStartPanel (for the standard Windows XP menu) or
HKEY_CURRENT_ USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CuerrentVersion / Explorer / HideDesktopicons / ClassicStartMenu (for Windows XP Classic Menu).
Step 7
Call the service menu by right-clicking on the DWORD parameter field
{6455FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (for the standard Windows XP menu) or
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (for Windows XP classic menu)
in the right pane of the Registry Editor window and select Modify (for Windows XP).
Step 8
Enter 0 in the Value field to restore the Recycle Bin shortcut and click OK to apply the selected changes (for Windows XP).
Step 9
Return to the Start menu and go to Run.
Step 10
Enter regedit in the Open box and click OK.
Step 11
Expand the branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Desktop / NameSpace
and call the service menu by right-clicking on the found section.
Step 12
Select New and choose the Section command.
Step 13
Enter the value {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and press Enter.
Step 14
Select the created section with a mouse click and double-click on the entry (By default) in the right pane of the registry editor window.
Step 15
Enter the Recycle Bin value in the Value field of the Modify String Parameter dialog box and click OK to execute the command.
Step 16
Exit the Registry Editor tool.
