Floppy disks, or "floppy disks", are a fairly old storage medium. However, some institutions and organizations continue to use this form of data storage to exchange and transmit information. And like any other medium, floppy disks sometimes carry malware. Antivirus software will help solve this problem.
Instructions
Step 1
Perform an on-demand scan using the installed antivirus. This method is suitable for those users who already have an anti-virus program on their computer. Any of the modern utilities, be it a Kaspersky Lab product, Eset NOD32, Avira or DrWeb, must have a module for scanning objects at the user's command.
Step 2
Start "My Computer" by double clicking on the desktop icon. An explorer window of the operating system will open with a list of disks, including disk A: - the traditional designation of a drive for reading and writing floppy disks. Right-click on the A: drive icon and select "Check with …" or "Scan with …" from the context menu. After that, depending on the specific program, a check dialog with a start button or just a window with the progress of the scanning process will appear. When the scan is completed, the results will be displayed and options for actions will be offered, for example, remove the detected virus or try to cure the file.
Step 3
Download and install the anti-virus scan and disinfect utility. Among the programs for protecting computers, there are both paid and free tools. Also, many companies produce special kits for checking and treating viruses - they do not require installation in the usual sense of this expression. That is, you download the file, run it and click the "Check" button, and all actions and decisions are made automatically. This is convenient if you need to check a floppy disk for viruses, for example, once a month, but the rest of the time it is not necessary.
Step 4
Open your browser and go to the download page of the virus removal tool from Kaspersky https://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool or from DrWeb: https://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/. Select the appropriate program language in the case of Kaspersky and click the Download or Download button. Wait for the download to finish and run the downloaded file by double clicking.
Step 5
Confirm the launch and click the "Start scan" button in the program window. All disks on the computer, including the floppy disk, will be checked - this method is suitable in cases where you are not in a hurry. If the time factor is important, download the product from Kaspersky and select the object to be scanned through the settings menu. To do this, click on the gear icon and check the box only for drive A. Then click on the "Automatic check" and activate the start button.
