Step 1
First of all, you need to open access to the printer, if it has not already been opened. Most often this operation is called "sharing", from the English verb to share - to share. To do this, click the "Start" menu and select "Devices and Printers".

In the window that opens, go to the "Printers and Faxes" section and double-click the icon of the active printer. In the window with the selected printer, click on the "Printer settings" link.

In the window that appears, go to the "Access" tab and check the box next to "Sharing this printer". Think of a unique name for this printer, like a separate network device, for example, "HP office" or "HP second floor". Click OK to close the window.
Step 4
To search for a printer while working with documents, you need to go to the network by connecting a network cable from the local network, if it was not connected, and open the "Computer" applet. In the window that opens, you will see the "share" icon on the printer - this means that you have opened free access to the printer.
Step 5
To search for a printer from another computer, for example, with the Windows XP operating system installed, you need to open the "Network Neighborhood" applet, click the "Show computers in a workgroup" link, select a computer and a network printer.
Step 6
After configuring the printer as a network object, set a password for network access. For Windows 7 and Windows XP operating systems, this opportunity is provided only by editing account settings. You need to open your account settings and assign a password-only login option. Thus, when the user tries to connect to the printer, a window will appear on the screen in which you must enter the password for the account.
