The easiest and most affordable way to change the volume of the played sound is to turn the knob in the player. However, if you have randomly played tracks collected from different sources and, as a result, differing in sound quality, this method can be quite tedious. In order not to touch the player's settings, it is enough to process the sound once in an audio editor or using a volume correction utility.
Necessary
- - MP3Gain program;
- - Adobe Audition program;
- - sound files.
Instructions
Step 1
You can use the MP3Gain utility to change the volume of one file or multiple tracks in mp3 format. Click on the "Add file" button and select the tracks, the volume of which does not suit you.
Step 2
To increase the volume to the default value, click on the "Track type" button. If the processing result still does not seem loud enough, click on the arrow to the right of the "Track type" button and select the "Constant" option. Adjust the amount by which the volume will change. To change the sound in both channels, uncheck the "Apply to one channel only" checkbox.
Step 3
If you prefer to have more granular control over the sound modification parameters, or the tracks whose volume you want to change are saved in a format other than mp3, load the sound into the Adobe Audition audio editor using the Open option from the File menu.
Step 4
Filters for volume correction are in the Amplitude group of the Effects menu. If you need to change the signal amplitude by a certain number of units, use the Amplify filter. Open the filter settings window, check the Link Left and Right checkbox so as not to change the volume ratio of the track channels, and slide any of the Gain parameter knobs to the right. Evaluate the result of applying the settings by turning on the playback of the file with the Preview Play button.
Step 5
The Normalize filter gives a good effect. In the filter settings window, uncheck the Decibels format checkbox and enter 100% in the Normalize to field. This filter does not have a preview function, but you can hear the result of applying the settings by applying normalization and starting the playback of the track. The Normalize filter allows you to enter a normalization value greater than one hundred percent.
Step 6
Multiband Compressor compresses the dynamic range of the file. Working with this filter is facilitated by a large number of presets that can be selected from the drop-down list at the top of the settings window. After activating one of the presets, turn on playback with the Preview button. While listening, you can change the settings or select another preset to compare the sound quality.
Step 7
Save the track with the changed volume with the Save Copy As or Save As options. Both options can be found in the File menu.
